AAA Predicts crowded highways for upcoming Memorial Day weekend

Memorial Day is right around the corner and we except the roads to be PACKED! Even with inflation hitting people across the country, gas prices continuing to go up and so much more, the number of people expected to be on the road is more than it was pre-pandemic. With this in mind, truckers will not have the open roads they have become somewhat used to during the quiet on the highways in the pandemic. This unofficial start to the summer is predicted to be the busiest in years. AAA predicts that 39.2 million people will travel 50 miles or more to travel home for Memorial Day this weekend. Compared to 2021, this is an 8.3% increase. We saw a decrease in travel during the pandemic but this could be the start to it spiking back to normal travel volumes.

Truckers should be prepared to expect long travel delays and crowded highways this weekend.
