I-4 in Florida ranks #1 as America’s deadliest road

A new report looked at fatality rates on U.S. highways to determine which are the most dangerous for drivers.

The ranking of the most deadly highways in America was shared on April 22 by fleet management software provider Teletrac Navman.

To create the ranking, the company looked at four years of fatality rates over certain stretches of highway and calculating the number of vehicle-related deaths per mile, using Fatal Analysis Reporting System (FARS) data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

  7. I-30, Aledo, TX – North Little Rock, AR

The company says that Interstate-4 in Florida is the only U.S. roadway with more than one fatality per mile.

“There have been significant technological improvements to automobiles, greater vehicle and driver connectivity and heightened awareness around safety standards, but we continue to see significant road fatalities,” said Ben Williams, director of marketing, digital and analytics for Teletrac Navman. “This study highlights the need for all drivers – passenger and commercial – to continue to stay vigilant to protect people on the roads.”
