We all had so many questions about the roll of out of autonomous trucking and the news has being all over the industry. Something you might’ve not thought about is that these trucks might have some hiccups resulting in them getting pulled over. What happens when autonomous trucks need to be pulled over? Do the trucks recognize the sirens and know when to pull over? Trucking Info recently reported that Embark recently worked with law enforcement to demonstrate how an incident like this would work.

The company developed the ability for Embark-powered trucks to identify and stop for law enforcement vehicles in situations such as traffic stops in collaboration with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office. Between autonomous vehicles and law enforcement officers, the company developed communication protocols and standard operating procedures.
