Cardinal Logistics drivers share thoughts on daily home time, safety and family atmosphere

Finding the perfect balance of work satisfaction and family time can seem tough for some CDL-A truck drivers but with Cardinal Logistics, drivers can get home daily on a dedicated run that averages $89,000 or more in the Tekonsha, Mich., area. What are the highlights of a Cardinal career? Drivers say it’s how they’re treated and valued.

“I have been with Cardinal for nine years,” says driver-trainer Leon Jeffcoat. “What keeps me at Cardinal is them keeping their promise.”

One of those promises is daily home time. “Cardinal’s dedicated lanes and home time are priceless. There’s nothing like being able to work on a job you enjoy and at the same time having family time, having home time,” says Leon.

Fellow Cardinal driver Jonathan Rivera, who’s been with the carrier for five years, focuses on home time as well. “What originally brought me to Cardinal was home time. I came from a company where I was out three weeks at a time and now I’m home every day, so that’s a big thing,” Rivera says.

Another key selling point is excellent equipment and technology to keep drivers safe on the road.  “When I think about the technology and equipment Cardinal offers, I think it’s state of the art.  It’s a constant reminder of the importance of safety,” Leon says, “They make you feel wanted and important to the company. When I look at other industries in the same market that don’t have the equipment, you can really tell the difference.”

Jonathan says freedom and flexibility also add to job satisfaction. “What I like best about my job is I get to plan my own day, just my own schedule,” he says. “Most of the drivers on my account don’t start until later in the day. I like that. Another thing is family time. That’s big for me.”

When asked what Leon and Jonathan would say to drivers looking for a better career home, they agree.

“I would describe Cardinal to a potential driver like this: If you enjoy home time and you love feeling needed and important to a company, come and join the Cardinal family,” Leon says.

Jonathan adds, “If you want home time, if you want technology, if you want safety, if you want family, if you want all that stuff, Cardinal is a great company to work with.”

In addition to average annual gross earnings of $89,000 or more per year, the Tekonsha, Mich., opportunity offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus and daily home time on a dedicated, predictable, local route. Other advantages to joining Cardinal Logistics include our paid holiday time and comprehensive benefits package at 30 days.

To be qualified, candidates need their Class A CDL, 9 months tractor-trailer experience in the last 3 years and be at least 21 years of age.
