A Manitoba truck driver lost his life last week days after he crashed his truck while he was hauling hot tar.
The crash happened on Wednesday, September 5, around 1:30 p.m. in Grand Forks County, North Dakota, as 21 year old truck driver Bradley Jackson was hauling a load of hot tar from Winnipeg, according CTV News.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says that as Jackson was traveling on Sixth Avenue Northeast, the truck’s right side wheels went off the right side of the roadway and that the truck then tipped over onto its side into the ditch.
The crash sent the load of tar into the cab, causing it to cover most of Jackson’s body. Jackson reportedly suffered third degree burns to 95% of his body.
Jackson was taken to a burn unit in a Minneapolis hospital but died on Saturday as a result of his injuries.
About 6,000 gallons of tar spilled during the crash.
Jackson drove for Winnepeg-based trucking company Jade Transport.
The incident remains under investigation.
