Valentine’s Day is one of the busiest times of the year for florists, and many last-minute shoppers are relying on timely deliveries to surprise their loved ones. To handle the expected surge in orders, 1-800-Flowers.com has teamed up with Uber Direct, Uber’s delivery service designed for businesses, to ensure florists can meet the high demand. This partnership allows more than 1,000 local florists in the BloomNet network to offer fast, same-day deliveries with the added flexibility of Uber’s driver network.
For rideshare drivers, this means an opportunity to step in during the busiest days of the year. While florists may have their own delivery teams, Uber Direct helps by connecting additional drivers to businesses, especially when the demand exceeds their in-house capacity. This partnership ensures that drivers have more opportunities to work during peak times like Valentine’s Day, when the demand for delivery services skyrockets.
Jon Feldman, President of BloomNet, shared, “Valentine’s is one of the most important and demanding weeks for florists. This year, we anticipate delivering about 24 million stems for the holiday.” He added, “We understand the logistical delivery challenges surrounding peak holidays such as Valentine’s Day, so we’ve teamed up with Uber Direct to provide our network with additional support.”
For drivers, the partnership between BloomNet and Uber Direct presents a chance to help florists deliver millions of flowers on time, while also benefitting from the flexibility and demand of these peak periods. This collaboration follows BloomNet’s earlier partnership with Walmart’s GoLocal delivery service, showing the growing demand for fast, reliable delivery during holiday seasons.
