Northfield Lines Introduces On-Demand Shuttle Services to Minnesota Campuses

Northfield Lines has partnered with The Routing Company (TRC) to provide on-demand shuttle services for Northfield and Dundas, Minnesota college campuses. The new service aims to enhance mobility options for students and staff at St. Olaf College and Carleton College.

Launched in April, this innovative service leverages TRC’s advanced Pingo platform, a globally recognized vehicle routing and management system designed for scalable, tech-driven transit solutions. The Ride Pingo app allows riders to request real-time rides, while fleet operators utilize the Drive Pingo app and Pingo Dashboard for seamless dispatching and efficient fleet management.

Initially developed to support essential trips like medical appointments, pharmacy runs, and local volunteering, the program plans to branch out to corporate campuses and other organizations in the region in the near future.

Northfield Lines’ Commitment to Mobility Excellence

Headquartered in Eagan, Minnesota, Northfield Lines has been a trusted transportation provider in the region for over 30 years. Their recent rejoining of the International Motorcoach Group (IMG) network highlights their ongoing dedication to elevating transit offerings.

“Northfield Lines has been providing transport services across Minnesota for over 30 years, and they’ve always kept customer service at the center of everything they do,” said Dami Adebayo, TRC’s Director of Partnerships. “That makes them an ideal partner for TRC, and we’re excited to work together to digitalize and augment the campus shuttles they provide.”

Harnessing the Power of Pingo

The partnership leverages TRC’s Pingo Campus product, which has already demonstrated success at institutions like Virginia Commonwealth University, where it facilitates up to 80,000 rides per month. This cutting-edge system is tailored for university and corporate environments, offering adaptable and cost-efficient alternatives to traditional shuttle setups.

“Our partnership with TRC supports our goal to provide efficient and reliable transportation for students and corporate partners,” said Mary O’Neil, vice president of sales and operations at Northfield Lines. “We look forward to offering a service that meets the unique needs of our community while maintaining operational excellence.”
