Mary Davila Sets Historic Milestone with 2 Million Safe Miles

Mary Davila of Bayonne, New Jersey, has made history as the first-ever woman to achieve the National Safety Council’s prestigious 2 Million Mile Motor Coach Operator Award. This remarkable milestone reflects 24 years of accident-free driving for Peter Pan Bus Lines, based in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Davila started her career in 1996 with Peter Pan’s New York City division. Her extraordinary accomplishments have earned her an induction into the National Safety Council’s Safe Driving Hall of Fame. Notably, her flawless record of 2 million miles without a preventable accident positions her as the first female motorcoach operator in the nation to earn this distinction.

Recognition from Peter Pan Bus Lines

“Mary embodies the highest standards of professionalism and safety,” says Chris Crean, Vice President of Safety and Security at Peter Pan Bus Lines. “She has set a new benchmark for motorcoach operators across the country, proving that dedication and skill can lead to extraordinary achievements.”

Admired by passengers and colleagues alike, Davila is not only celebrated for her unmatched driving expertise but also for her kindness, warmth, and signature laugh.

A Legacy of Safe Driving Excellence

The National Safety Council’s Million Mile Award is one of the most respected honors in commercial transportation. Peter Pan Bus Lines boasts a strong legacy in safe driving, with 170 drivers earning the Million Mile Award. Among them, over 40—including Davila—have achieved 2 million safe miles or more, a distance equivalent to circling the globe 80 times. Peter Pan is home to nine drivers with 3 million safe miles and the only two drivers in the country to achieve 4 million safe miles: Ed Hope and Andy Anderson.
