Pennsylvania Bus Association Hosts First Lobby Day

Recently, the Pennsylvania Bus Association (PBA) made history by hosting its very first Lobby Day at the state capitol in Harrisburg. The goal was simple but important: to connect directly with lawmakers and highlight the needs of the motorcoach and group travel industry.

A Day of Direct Advocacy

The event began with a meet-and-greet breakfast specially arranged for legislators. This gave PBA members a relaxed setting to introduce themselves and start meaningful conversations. Everyone received a toolkit packed with helpful items — including a breakfast invitation template, key talking points, a master meeting schedule, leadership bios, and a document outlining the 2025 legislative priorities.

Working alongside their lobbying partner, One+ Strategies, PBA members made the most of the day. Between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., they held more than 22 meetings with House and Senate leaders, as well as local representatives.

Amplifying the Bus Industry’s Voice

“This was an important day for our members and the future of the industry,” said Patricia Cowley, Executive Director of PBA. “Lawmakers need to hear firsthand how state decisions impact small businesses, family-owned operators, and the thousands of Pennsylvanians we employ.”

PBA Board Chairwoman Tammy Wolf-Baker of Wolf’s Bus Lines added, “Lobby Day gave us the chance to share our story beyond statistics—to talk about the economic impact we generate and the safety-first culture we uphold. We were well prepared, and the meetings were productive and respectful.”

John Bailey of Bailey Coach, the immediate Past Chairman of PBA, shared similar thoughts: “Our industry often flies under the radar, but we move millions of people each year—safely, efficiently, and sustainably. It felt empowering to be part of something bigger than ourselves.”

Looking Ahead

By hosting its first Lobby Day, PBA not only raised the motorcoach industry’s profile but also took a big step toward building stronger relationships with lawmakers. The event highlighted the vital role the industry plays in the economy and offered a platform to advocate for policies that support its long-term growth and success.
