Durin Morrow, a technician with Hermes Worldwide, recently earned the prestigious Master Technician certification from Motor Coach Industries (MCI), marking a milestone for the Denver-based transportation provider.
Since joining Hermes in July 2022, Morrow quickly embarked on the rigorous MCI Academy program. Throughout two and a half years, he completed more than 280 online modules along with 11 weeks of hands-on training at MCI’s National Training Center located in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Master Technician credential represents the highest achievement within MCI Academy, the only training program in the motorcoach industry accredited by Automotive Service Excellence. The program’s curriculum spans all critical MCI coach systems such as HVAC, electrical, suspension, brakes, and diagnostics.
Speaking about the program, Morrow shared, “MCI Academy’s Master Tech program is a unique and comprehensive course that provides in-depth training on all the subjects needed to work on and maintain MCI motorcoaches. It was a great learning environment and a valuable opportunity to connect with others in the industry.”
Jorge Sanchez, CEO of Hermes Worldwide, emphasized the significance of Morrow’s accomplishment for both the technician’s career and the company. “His dedication, skill, and professionalism truly reflect the high standards we strive for at Hermes,” Sanchez remarked.
Hermes Worldwide, founded in 2007, currently operates nearly 50 vehicles serving a wide range of clients, including corporate groups, schools, sports teams, entertainment tours, and special events throughout the Denver area. With Morrow’s Master Technician certification, the company expects to enhance its maintenance capabilities by handling more advanced repairs internally. This shift aims to improve response times, lower costs, and reduce vehicle downtime.
Looking ahead, Hermes plans to continue supporting staff development through MCI Academy’s programs, including training commercial drivers who pursue motorcoach operator certification.
