New Traversa NEMT Chair Brings Comfort and Safety to Non-Emergency Transport

The Selma and Dallas County Chamber of Commerce introduces the Traversa chair by Broda, designed to improve safety, comfort, and efficiency for NEMT drivers and passengers. Learn how this innovation is changing non-emergency medical transport operations.

NEMT drivers across Alabama are seeing a new advancement that could make patient transport safer, easier, and more comfortable for everyone involved. The Selma and Dallas County Chamber of Commerce recently introduced the Traversa chair by Broda, a new tool designed specifically for non-emergency medical transportation providers who want to give their passengers a smoother, more efficient experience.

The reveal took place at the Selma-Dallas County Public Library on September 26. Chamber of Commerce member Roosevelt Tinker and Broda Regional Sales Director Mark Gram joined the event to talk about how this equipment can help NEMT professionals better serve their communities.

“It’s an innovative alternative to a traditional stretcher chair service,” said Tinker in an announcement from the chamber. “This equipment is designed for comfort, elevation, and safety, and a way to continue serving our clients that we provide exceptional non-emergency transportation service in Dallas County and surrounding areas.”

The Traversa chair is built for flexibility and ease of use, giving drivers and attendants more options for passengers who may not need a full stretcher but still require assistance. According to the announcement, the chair can accommodate about 90 percent of patients who would normally need a stretcher, helping NEMT providers save time and reduce the physical strain that comes with heavier equipment.

“Like Roosevelt said, there’s a big gap between somebody who can walk from their house to a loved one’s car to someone who needs the assistance of a wheelchair,” said Gram. “So, what we did was take the technology that we are using in our regular Broda chairs and added some features from the input of people interested in the product, like Roosevelt.”

During the presentation, attendees were shown how the Traversa chair operates. The demonstration highlighted its ability to adjust for comfort, ensure secure patient positioning, and simplify transfers in and out of vehicles.

For NEMT drivers, the Traversa chair could mean faster pickups, safer transports, and happier clients. It represents another step forward in making non-emergency medical transport more professional, efficient, and compassionate.
