Maximize Your Holiday Rides: Uber’s New Features Every Driver Should Know

Maximize your holiday earnings as a rideshare driver with Uber’s new features. Learn how Uber Ski, Send a Ride, Uber Share, and holiday gifting updates can boost trips, tips, and passenger satisfaction this season.

The holiday season is here, and that means more trips, airport runs, and last-minute rides for riders all across town. Uber is rolling out several new tools and updates designed to make the season easier, more profitable, and safer for rideshare drivers.

Here’s what you need to know to stay ahead this holiday season:

Uber Ski Brings Winter Travelers Your Way

Winter travel is booming as skiers and snowboarders hit the slopes worldwide. Uber Ski is a new seasonal service designed to connect drivers with passengers heading to major ski destinations.

For the first time, Uber has partnered with Vail Resorts, allowing riders to book Uber Reserve and purchase their Epic Pass directly through the app. This means trips with passengers carrying ski gear or boards are easier to anticipate and plan.

“With Uber Ski, riders can reserve vehicles with larger trunk space, up to 90 days in advance – perfect for up to four passengers and all their gear,” the Uber team said.

For drivers, this translates to higher-demand rides with clear expectations about luggage and passenger numbers, helping you maximize earnings while staying organized.

Send a Ride Feature Makes Holiday Trips Easier

The new in-app Send a Ride option lets riders cover a trip for someone else. This is perfect for airport pickups, family visits, or ensuring friends and loved ones get to their destinations on time.

“Simply set the number of rides and your spending limit, then we’ll generate a unique link that you can send to the rider. Once they tap the link, the credit is saved to their Uber Wallet and automatically applied to their next trip,” Uber explained.

For drivers, these prepaid rides can reduce cancellations and give you clear insight into the fare upfront, making your workday smoother.

Uber Share Expands to More Airports

Airports are always busy during the holidays, and Uber Share is now live at JFK, LGA, and MCO, adding to previous expansions in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, and international airports.

“With Uber Share, travelers can be matched with just one other rider headed in a similar direction and save up to 25% compared to their UberX fare,” Uber said.

For drivers, this means more consistent ride requests, the potential to pick up multiple passengers in one trip, and the opportunity to tap into high-demand airport traffic.

Uber Eats Holiday Gifting Upgrades

Riders sending gifts through Uber Eats can now include personalized videos from celebrities like Megan Thee Stallion, the Jonas Brothers, Jake Shane, or Tracee Ellis Ross.

“When you use our ‘Send as a Gift’ feature, you can include a video for no additional charge,” Uber said.

Drivers should keep in mind that these deliveries may require extra attention to timing and care, but they also offer opportunities for higher tips and customer satisfaction.

Tips for Drivers This Holiday Season

  • Plan for busy airport trips and ski destination rides.
  • Make sure your vehicle can handle luggage and winter gear.
  • Keep your app updated for new features like Send a Ride and Uber Share.
  • Focus on clear communication with passengers to maintain high ratings.

The holidays can be stressful, but for rideshare drivers, these new Uber features offer opportunities to increase earnings, provide excellent service, and navigate the busy season with confidence.
