Uber is preparing to launch an updated version of Uber Pro in select cities across California, introducing changes to how points are earned, how tiers are reached, and what rewards are available.
The update was first announced during last year’s Only on Uber event. According to the company, the redesigned program reflects feedback gathered from drivers and focuses on flexibility, earning potential, and daily usability.
The rollout is expected to begin over the next few weeks in eligible California markets. Those who qualify will receive additional details through email and the Uber Driver app. Terms apply.
How the Updated Uber Pro Works
The structure remains tier-based. Points are earned by accepting trips, maintaining lower cancellation rates, completing rides safely, and meeting program requirements. Higher tiers unlock expanded rewards.
In markets where Advantage Mode currently operates, Advantage Mode and Uber Pro will be combined into a single program. Those who previously qualified for Advantage Mode will continue to receive benefits such as priority Trip Radar matching and access to more Exclusive ride requests.
Platinum and Diamond status will include an additional earnings component. Drivers at those levels will earn 5% more on trip fares for UberX and most other ride types compared to Blue and Gold tiers.
Changes to Tier Requirements
Several qualification standards are being adjusted under the new structure:
- Platinum will require a 25% acceptance rate
- Diamond will require a 70% acceptance rate
- Gold will not have an acceptance rate requirement
Point thresholds for Gold, Platinum, and Diamond are being reduced. Cancellation rate criteria for Gold are also being lowered.
A new Driving Insights score requirement will apply to Gold, Platinum, and Diamond tiers. The score is intended to recognize safe driving habits.
The Uber Pro Hub is also being redesigned to make it easier to track progress, review rewards, and monitor status toward the next tier.
Updated Reward Features
Gold, Platinum, and Diamond tiers will receive expanded access to certain trip opportunities:
- Priority Rides: Early access to more Exclusive Trip requests
- Trip Radar Advantage: Priority matching at airports and select trips elsewhere
- Priority Reserve: More Reserve trip opportunities for Platinum and Diamond
- Extra Destination Mode: Platinum and Diamond can use Destination Mode up to three times daily, increased from two
Diamond status will also include a free three-month membership to Uber One, which offers benefits such as $0 Delivery Fee and up to 10% off eligible orders.
Existing Rewards Continue
Current Uber Pro rewards will remain available, including a free one-year Costco Gold Star membership and fuel savings through Upside.
Eligibility requirements for some rewards may shift as tier criteria are updated. The company notes that additional details will be shared as the rollout continues.
The new Uber Pro is expected to expand to additional cities in the future.
