Ridehare drivers have likely seen their share of forgotten items, but Uber’s latest Lost and Found Index shows that passengers continue to leave behind far more than phones, wallets and keys.
Released as the company’s annual roundup of items reported by riders, the 2026 Lost and Found Index highlights some of the most unusual belongings left behind in Uber vehicles and announces a new feature designed to make returning lost property easier.
Everyday Items Still Top the List
According to Uber, phones, wallets, and keys remain the items riders most frequently leave behind. This year’s report also found an increase in forgotten Labubu collectible toys, fitness gear, vapes, e-cigarettes, and dental items.
While those items are becoming more common, the annual report is best known for showcasing the unexpected objects that drivers discover after a trip has ended.
Some of the Year’s Most Unusual Forgotten Items
Uber’s list of unique lost items included everything from personal belongings to oversized household items and work equipment. Among the more unusual discoveries reported by drivers were:
- Dentures with two teeth
- Breast milk
- Human hair
- A package of live butterflies
- A dishwasher
- A 75 gallon fish tank
- Two wedding gowns
- Twenty pounds of duck sausage
- A mannequin
- A propane tank
- A police radio
- A child’s prosthetic eye
- A sleep apnea machine
- A kitchen faucet
- A brand new mini refrigerator
The full index also included dozens of other unexpected items, ranging from a wizard wand and welding helmet to a Donny Osmond group photograph and George Washington Hospital discharge papers.
Uber Adds New Lost Item Return Feature
Alongside the annual report, Uber announced new app features intended to simplify the lost item return process.
Riders can now report a missing item through the Uber app and request a return trip from their driver to retrieve it. The feature is currently available in California, Texas, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Georgia, Minnesota and Massachusetts.
Uber said it plans to expand the feature nationwide before the end of the year.
Forgotten Items Remain Part of the Job
For rideshare drivers, forgotten belongings are an occasional part of daily operations. While most lost items are routine, Uber’s annual index serves as a reminder that every trip has the potential to leave behind something unexpected.
The updated return process is intended to make it easier for riders and drivers to reconnect while helping reduce the time spent coordinating the return of misplaced items.
